Update from Public Health

Wednesday, September 23, 2020

-QHC now has an online registration portal for the assessment centres (Belleville and Quinte West only). Go to www.qhc.on.ca for more info. If you can share on your social media and websites, please do
- There have been huge jumps in swabbing numbers (on average, 700 a day). Current wait time at assessment centres is approx. 1.5 hours – this is still well below other jurisdictions. QHC is working on hiring more staff to speed up registration and help manage this wait time
- The current model for children sent home from school with symptoms is that asymptomatic family members do not need to self isolate if the symptomatic family member is being tested.
- Public health is working with the province to look at criteria for children being sent home/kept home, to see if there is a better solution due to our area having low numbers
- There will be advice/recommendations regarding Halloween forthcoming, but not until there is a better look at how numbers are trending (re: too soon for those recommendations yet)
