Meet your council
The mission statement for the township of Tudor and Cashel states; “Our commitment to you is to deliver the highest level of municipal services possible, while controlling overall cost.”
As your Mayor, I will ensure the welfare and interests of the municipality as a whole are always considered and to bring to council’s attention anything that would promote the welfare or interests of the municipality. I will take part in developing and evaluating the policies and programs of the Municipality, as well as participating in council meetings and council committee meetings. Also, as your Mayor I represent Tudor and Cashel on Hastings County Council as a Councillor and have been appointed to Committees and Boards at the County level.
Currently I am the Chairperson of the Board of Directors for the Central Hastings Family Health Team. I am also a board member at large for the North Hastings Economic Development Committee. I am a committee member of the North Hastings Inspection Services as well as a member of the local Euchre Committee.
Thirty-three years of being an educator with the Toronto District School Board prepared me for my continuing role in helping people get things done. I continue to be a member of the Ontario College of Teachers. My areas of expertise include human relations, policies and procedures as well as collaboration. I am also currently registered with the Quinte Real Estate Board as a real estate sales representative.
I will strive to uphold the mission statement of the township of Tudor and Cashel on your behalf.
I was born and raised in the hamlet of Millbridge at the southern tip of our township.
I have lived and worked locally for the majority of my working career including 14 years as the Roads Superintendent for Tudor and Cashel.
As your Deputy Mayor, I will strive to represent all of the Rate Payers in this township to the best of my ability.
My wife and I purchased our property in Tudor and Cashel, December of 2011 and used it as our getaway place until we decided to move here permanently in 2013. I very much enjoy the smaller community atmosphere found here in our township.
As councillor it’s my hope to use my life experiences to guide me to represent all members of our community, permanent and non permanent, and help give sound direction for the township.
Some of my background is as follows;
- Grew up on a farm near Lindsay
- 1975 to 1980 Bus and Street car operator for Toronto Transit Commission
- 1980-1988 Self employed, owned and operated a restaurant in the town of Wallaceburg Ontario
- 1988 to 1990 Dump truck operator for a roads, water and sewer construction company , head office near Bobcageon Ontario
- 1990 to 2013 Plant, Warehouse and Distribution manager for a food processing/ packing plant near Omemee Ontario
- 2013 retired and moved to Tudor and Cashel
- past volunteer member with Kinsman Clubs of Canada (Wallaceburg)
- past volunteer member of The Wallaceburg Amateur Radio Club
- past volunteer member / treasurer of The Victoria and Halliburton Amateur Radio Club
- past volunteer member / present member of the Tudor and Cashel sustainability committee
I arrived in Tudor and Cashel after an arduous search for a getaway that was both quiet and beautiful.
The more time I spent here, the harder it was to return to the city. When opportunity knocked, 25 years ago, I made it my home.
I have travelled to 12 countries around the world and numerous destinations across Canada and the United States for work and for pleasure. Having exposure to cultural and economic diversity, I can look at issues through different perspectives.
I promise a high level of personal integrity and accountability in how I deliver on the responsiblities I have been trusted with.
I have been visiting and occasionally working in the Township of Tudor and Cashel since the early 1980’s. I started as a cottager on beautiful Jordan Lake, spending more and more time here over the years. I finally pulled the plug on living in the city of Toronto in 2013, and moved into the area full time. Since coming here I have been helping people get answers to questions, and things done. Initially on Jordan Lake, and then expanded my horizons to Steenburg Lake where I have a number of friends and family.
In 2018 I decided that I should run for council and expand my efforts to the whole Township. Thanks to an amazing amount of support of the people I have met over the years, I managed to get elected councilor. So for the next 4 years I plan on representing the voices of all the taxpayers of Tudor and Cashel.
Section 284 of the Municipal Act, 2001, requires annual reporting for remuneration and expenses paid to each member of Council by March 31 of the following year.
